First thing first, you will have to check the PHP and the composer version. So, I have updated the PHP version to 8.2.3 as shown below.
php -v
Also, you will have to check the composer version.
composer --version
For the composer, you can update it to the latest version if not. Therefore, I have updated it using the below command. So, in the terminal, simply hit this.
composer self-update
This will update the composer to the latest version.
Thereafter, you will need to navigate to the composer.json file to check all the dependencies.
So, we have to upgrade the required dependencies. Therefore, let’s get started.

Upgrade to Laravel 11 in Simple Steps
In the composer.json file, firstly, you will have to update the PHP 8.1 to 8.2.
php 8.1 to ^8.2
Furthermore, you will have to change the dependencies to the below versions.
laravel/framework to ^11.0
nunomaduro/collision to ^8.1
laravel/breeze to ^2.0 (If installed)
laravel/cashier to ^15.0 (If installed)
laravel/dusk to ^8.0 (If installed)
laravel/jetstream to ^5.0 (If installed)
laravel/passport to ^12.0 (If installed)
laravel/sanctum to ^4.0 (If installed)
laravel/spark-stripe to ^5.0 (If installed)
laravel/telescope to ^5.0 (If installed)
inertiajs/inertia-laravel to ^1.0 (If installed)
Once, you are done with the above, let’s hit navigate to the terminal and hit the below command.
composer update
This will start upgrading the dependencies as shown below.
After upgrading, you will have to clear all the configuration cache. So, better, you can hit the below command to clear the application cache in a single command.
php artisan optimize:clear
Yeah, that’s all. Now, you can start the application server. So, for that, you will have to run the below command.
php artisan serve
Thereafter, you can open the browser and access the application URL. And here, we have the official homepage of Laravel with the latest version (Laravel v11).
